What’s the best way to beat the heat and humidity awaiting the Green Bay Packers in Jacksonville on Sunday? Staying hydrated, and Packers coach Matt LaFleur knows the best way to understand the body’s hydration level.

Clear urine means well hydrated.

“Certainly, every time they pee, you want it to look clear,” LaFleur said half-jokingly Wednesday.

The Packers will head to Florida to play the New Orleans Saints on Sunday in the season opener. The current forecast for Jacksonville calls for temps in the mid-80s with humidity levels of 75 percent or higher.

LaFleur said there’s no way the Packers can replicate that kind of environment while practicing in Green Bay this week. While they could crank up the heat at the Don Hutson Center, he doesn’t want his players practicing indoors on the turf all week long.

Dehydration can be a major issue for teams that aren’t used to playing in southern conditions. Hydrating this week will be key.

“Our guys have to do an unbelievable job of taking care of their bodies, of hydrating, so that we can go out there and play for four quarters. It’s going to be a tough physical football game for four quarters long in some elements that are hard to replicate,” LaFleur said.

Clear pee, full hearts, can’t lose?
