The Cincinnati Bengals will cut the roster down to 53 players to comply with the NFL’s Tuesday deadline.
Keep in mind cutting the roster to 53 players is merely the beginning and the initial 53 isn’t anywhere close to being the final 53. The team can pass players from the 53 to IR, add via trades or waivers and more.
And for the players let go, they could end up back on the practice squad or even on a different team’s 53.
Here’s a running tally of Bengals cuts and moves today.
The Bengals got a jump on the cut-down process by trading former first-round pick Billy Price to the New York Giants in exchange for defensive lineman B.J. Hill.
Patrick lost out on the numbers game at running back, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Despite a strong summer, Taylor won’t be on the final 53, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
Schreck misses the roster, per Schefter, clearing the way for Thaddeus Moss.
A notable undrafted free agent, the Bengals will likely try to bring Phillips back on the practice squad. Schefter reported.
After learning returns on special teams and playing at wideout, the Bengals would likely love to have Pooka back on the practice squad. Reported by Pelissero.
